For about 2-3 weeks nothing went right with this guitar. So I decided to break my top in half to make it look antiqued ![]() LMI Flamenco kit. Vera Wood headstock and bindings that you can't see very well because of my very poor photography. French Polish with orange Shellac on the whole thing. I really want to play it, and did a little bit, but left my shirt pattern imprinted on the side. Had to rub that one out ![]() The paper on the inside of my top is from my ER visit after sticking myself really good with a freshly sharpened chisel. I'm giong to stitch it myself next time. What a rip off. Yes, I left my saddle long, I can adjust my action that way really easy. Oh yeah, and this was in Robbie O'Brien's class, my second tour of duty. |

nice work Brandon! It was touch and go a few classes there but you pulled it off. The French polish turned out really nice as well! Congratulations ![]() |

Looks really good to me! Very nice woods. Whatever its faults may be, they're bigger to your eye than to anyone else's, especially right now. Five years from now, you'll barely notice! I really like the "label." |
So... Hows it sound? Looks very nice.
Sounds alright. I put some stings on it that I've tried before and ended up not liking them. Why did I try them again? I have no clue... I probably bought them because they were on sale or something. Luthier brand strings. Maybe the name had something to do with it. Strings feel really sloppy and loose. Probably because of how thin my top is. I want to try high tension, but if my top is thin... I'm going to drop it off at a flameco players house and let him beat it up (break it in) for a while (plus, he has some nice guitars we can compare it too). When I let him play my first guitar, it was almost a night a day difference in how that guitar sounded the next day. Basically, I expect it to sound good, but don't we all expect our guitars to sound good? ![]() |
I'm going to stitch it myself next time. What a rip off.
Don't do it, Bro! A buddy did that and almost lost the finger to infection. He used his wife's sewing thread and needle! A manly thing to do, for sure! I guess the hospital bill was a lot worse the second time. Cool guitar! |
